The potential use of video segmenting and sharing to support academic task in higher education

The aim of the research is to design, implement, evaluate an online video platform for learning. The research seeks to examine how students can use the online system to source and reference video content for academic work both as individuals, and through sharing video content in teams. In order to achieve the aim set out above, a number of specific objectives and milestones were set out for completion, namely;

1) Conduct a preliminary study using video content in class with students to confirm its value.

2) Question students to ascertain potential adoption of an online video platform for learning.

3) Investigate good practice in terms of integration of video content in teaching and learning.

4) Design and implement an online video platform for learning to investigate;

a. Use of online video system to source and reference video content for academic work.

b. Student use of sharing features to support academic group work.

c. Segmenting video content.

d. Use of a search feature for content within video.
